I’ve been working with Airtable lately, which is a platform where you can really do all kinds of things with, but what I’ve done with it the past few days is put together a database of everything I’ve written that’s available somewhere (whether to buy or read for free).
It also features a nice little workflow showing where various books are at in the process of getting them published. For example, right now it has a new novel at the writing stage (working title: Erica’s story), Hunter and Prey is still hanging out in the editing stage, and there’s a couple books nearing in on publication 😇 That’s an excellent place to look if you’re curious what’s currently incubating.
Originally what I wanted to do was make something that had all the information I needed in one place whenever I needed to know things like when a given book was published, how many I have out, and things like that. As I was making it, though, I realized that it could be a really handy place where anyone who was curious could find out pretty much anything they needed about my books.
It’s also a great way to put all the links to things you can read for free in one place, just gonna say.
And, for those who are curious about subscribing to my monthly short fiction, you’ll be able to see what the past and upcoming titles for that are and maybe some tantalizing info about them.
Back to the free stuff, though, did you know I have multiple books’ worth of poetry and short stories out there that you can read? Because I didn’t realize quite how much I had out there until I did this! I’m beginning to understand why I burnt out so bad early 2018 and am only now just starting to recover o.o
Now, for my own personal organizational purposes, I have a version of that database that has more information, like books that are still in the early early stages and aren’t ready to be talked about yet, and this one shows all the information from there that I’m ready to be publicly viewable. It’s a little weird that I’ve written enough that I need a database to help me keep track of it all, but it’s the kind of weird that I’m very, very okay with.
Eventually, when I’ve made a nice graphic to go with it, this database will be linked to on the Other Works page (unless I decide to put it somewhere different), but for now there’s the buttons in this post that can get you there. It seemed a shame to make all this and have it ready to be used and then not share it because I hadn’t decided yet which page to put the button on.
If you find this database interesting and want to chat about it (or about any of my writings), feel free to send me an email, and I’ll happily nerd out with you about it 😊
